Aboriginal for a Day

Guess what? On Thursday the 9th of November, the grade 1-2 classes participated in the Aboriginal for a Day incursion. Big Al, Pancakes and Azza led us in many fun activities including dancing, face painting, storytelling and art. We all had a great day and learnt lots about Aboriginal culture. Read some of our thoughts below.

* Thursday was the best day ever! We heard people play the didgeridoo and it was awesome!! We saw traditional dancing and I danced in front of everyone. Pancakes had a kangaroo skin on his back. I liked it.

* On Thursday I drew a map with Azza. I was so excited because I love drawing. I drew home, boys, girls, emus, water holes, kangaroos and snakes. I had my face painted with brown stripes and white dots. The teachers put the paint onto the end of the paint brush to make the dots.

* On Thursday some visitors came to the hall. They were funny. We did face painting, drawing, dancing and Big Al told us a story about how the echidna got its spikes. We jumped like kangaroos, walked like echidnas and flowed like eagles. I had fun.

Science Works Excursion

I thought I was the only lucky person but when I opened my eyes, all I saw as lots of lucky people roaming around like CRAZY! We could not wait until Nitty Gritty City. My absolutely favourite part was the music room because my friends and I made some cool songs altogether.   Devine

I thought it was fun because it was like doing team work when we were in Nitty Gritty City. I learnt about different chemicals and what happens when we put food dye into water, vinegar, detergent and washing powder. Jahzay

I felt so excited because it was my first time at Scienceworks. My favourite area was the playground because I got to pretend to make some food in the Café and I got to create music with a team. We used different materials such as sticks and pipes to make sounds. Azaria

My favourite part of Scienceworks was the Technology Exhibition because we could create our own movies.   Sam

I felt so happy because there were many fun things to do and we DID IT ALL! I saw never-ending mirrors and I didn’t know where I was going..I heard everyone chitter chatting about Scienceworks and how amazing everything was. Kenzie
